Following the objective of G2SU, on 21st September, 2019 an outreach to Namwenula primary school in Mbale district was conducted. Namwenula Primary School is a government aided school that has existed for 34 years in the community and is headed by Mr. Wamukota. The school children face a number of challenges that include; insufficient scholastic materials, Lack of shoes, Failure to pay school fees leading to increased school drop outs among others.
G2SU reached out to the school children with scholastic materials. The team not only provided scholastic materials to the children but also guidance, encouragement and shared a meal with them. 139 children received books, pens and pencils to assist in their studying programs. All classes were reached out to and given these materials. Every G2SU team member was assigned to a group of children in a particular class. This session helped to ensure that every child present was reached out to and listened to. The initial outreach target was a minimum of 70 beneficiaries which was surpassed when the team reached out to 139 pupils of this particular school.
The Director of G2SU, Mr. Jedson Shangi shared with the primary two pupils in a session deemed to empower them. He encouraged them to love God, the creator because everything comes from Him.
